    More about us

Simply Yummy Food is a high quality catering company based in Edinburgh. We have been established for five years and work from a café/brassiere which is the other side of their business.
Currently we have regular customers and several contracts for catering. These are from local businesses and offices in the immediate area surrounding the café, from where the catering is based.

We usually use locally sourced products to keep the food as high standard as possible. The menu contains a lot of seasonal dishes created by our chef, we’re proud of, Jason Wright.

Specialities like vegetarian or organic foods are also in the menu alongside with traditional and modern Scottish and international dishes. We also have a micro-brewery to create authentic and original tasting beverages that we serve at events.

    Barney's Beer

Barney's Beer is now brewed on the site of the original 1800s Summerhall brewery. Summerhall at the former Dick Vet college is Edinburgh's newest and most exciting centre for the arts & science.

"I started as an apprentice in a brewery before I was old enough to drink beer...that was a tough shift. After a brewing degree, working in various breweries and traveling the world, all in the good cause of rum & whisky promotion, I decided it time to make my own beer.

Barney’s Beer is brewed using traditional techniques; no pasteurisation. 100% natural brewing process.

    Edinburgh Food

    ef

The ‘Edinburgh Local Food Network’ (ELFN) is an informal group of organisations and individuals who care about the availability of local food in the Edinburgh area. We support the development of a truly sustainable food system for our region.

    Why local food?
Promoting local food is about strengthening the connection between ourselves, our food and the place we live. It’s about working towards a system where more of what we eat – whether at home, at work, in hospitals and schools, or in cafes and restaurants – is grown or produced nearer to where we are, rather than being trucked or shipped hundreds or even thousands of miles from a location or conditions about which we have little or no knowledge or with which we have no connection. It’s also about good, fair and natural food.

Over the last 50 or so years the gradual industrialisation of our food system has led to fewer, larger farms and units of production, whose methods are more dependent on the use of oil-based artificial fertilisers and chemical pesticides, and who form part of longer, more complex and more global supply chains (as revealed by the current horsemeat story). Buying food from a producer which you can see is fresh or from a shop-keeper who will tell you where the food came from is a better option than making an assumption based on deciphering a supermarket label – and may cost less.
